SwiftTec FAQ: Corrupt Database
Problem
When starting the software you are presented with a dialog box that
prompts you for a data source.
Applies To
Solution #1 (Microsoft Access is available)
- Make a copy of the membership database (membership.mdb)
- Attempt to open the database using Microsoft Access.
- If Microsoft Access opens the database without complaining then
the database is not corrupted
- If prompted to repair the database select Yes
- Close the database
- Re-run the software which should no longer prompt for for the
data source.
Solution #2 (Microsoft Access is NOT available)
- Download the Jet Compact Utility from
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/273956/EN-US/
- Run the JetComp utility on the membership database saving it to
a new name (membership-compact.mdb)
- Rename the corrupt database as membership-corrupt.mdb
- Rename the new database as membership.mdb
- Re-run the software which should no longer prompt for for the
data source.
